Brand Review : Ere Perez
issue five : a feast for gluttony
For our A Feast for Gluttony issue we thought it only fitting to feature brands and products that a) have a short ingredients list and/or b) that feature food ingredients in their make up. Happily, Australian-made-Mexican-inspired brand, Ere Perez provides us with both these outcomes.
It seems that every time I open my computer, the Ere Perez product line has expanded. And, oh, how happy this makes me because this line yet to disappoint.
An untainted colour cosmetic line, brimming with natural pigments and colourants, vitamins and organic oils that nourish the skin, these babies live up to their 'naturally beautiful' tagline, and then some.
I suppose the product names - most of which name the active ingredient in each product - are food based. See why this might have appealed to my decision-making skills for this one?
From the Oat Milk Foundation to the Avocado Waterproof Mascara to the Carrot Colour Pots. Every one of which now has a firm space in my professional kit. To be completely honest, the colour payoff is too strong my personal makeup preference. The list of ingenious products goes on and on, but here are some of my personal favourites.
Avocado Waterproof Mascara
Yep. You read that right. Natural, W A T E R P R O O F mascara. This one claims to be the first on the market.
I have stated before that there could not possibly be such a thing in the world of untainted beauty. And, in my professional opinion, I would be very sceptical of any brand that make such an audacious claim. I have to eat my hat on this one. While I won't terrify you with the images of myself that demonstrate my various makeup tests (if you didn't already have a fear for clowns, you might after seeing one of my comical makeup tests), I can assure you my scepticism on these claims have been well and truly squashed. Everything else come off in the wash but the mascara stayed!
Despite the fatty avocado base, the formulation is rather dry, so it doesn't smudge and rub off your lashes onto the eyelid. While the is a little transference while the mascara is drying (but only when I touched my lashes with my finger to put the product through the works), once it's set, it's there to stay. Ideal if you're wanting to create some spidery, editorial looking lashes.
A dramatic black.
A must have for make up artists who do bridal makeup or film or under water work. Or simply just getting around in the rain!
carnauba (copernicia cerifera) wax, palm kernel (elaeis guineensis) wax, soybean (gyicine soja) seed oil, dimethicone, calcium stearate, mamey (pouteria sapota) oil, sweet almond (prunus amygdalus dulcis) oil, sopropyl palmitate, avocado (persea gratissima) oil, palmitic acid, tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E), orange (citrus aurantium dulcis) oil, lemon (citrus medica limonum) oil, bergamot (citrus bergamia) oil, iron oxides CI 77499.
Carrot Colour Pots
While you would be forgiven for thinking that the ingredient used to give these pigment heavy little pots of joy their colour is the humble carrot, you are in fact mistaken. The carrot oil it contains is a beneficial anti-oxidant and helps keep skin soft and hydrated. I love that there is enough pigment in these creams that they can be used on the darkest skin tones without disappearing into the skin. Not to mention they are multi-tasking. A two-for-one special... my facourite kind!
Rich, intense colour in a convenient little pot.
The consistency and colour pay off would rival some of your favourite grease paints, so handy for those makeup looks that required a heavy colour application.
If only they came in more than 5 colours! An artist can dream...
hydrogenated olive (olea europea) oil, candelilla (euphorbia cerifera) wax, ozokerite, caprylic/capric triglyceride, avocado (persea gratissima) oil, carrot (daucus carota sativa) oil, tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E). May contain +/– Iron oxides, CI77019, CI77891.
If you have been reading Untainted from the beginning, you would have seen me feature The Beautiful Beetroot Lip & Cheek Tint in Joy. Probably more than once. This potent little product packs some serious punch and holds its own next to Benefit Cosmetics cult product, BeneTint. But for good measure, I will showcase it again because that's how much I love it!

And no, just because it's natural doesn't mean it costs more. In fact, you save a whopping £3 choosing this #untaintedalternative. Ok, sure, there is a small difference in quantity. A whole 2.5ml Don't worry dear. A little goes a looooong way, so those extra 2.5ml won't even be noticed. Oh yes, and The Beautiful Beetroot Lip & Cheek Tint in Joy is also vegan.
