UNTAINTED X MASTERED BRIEF

The brief set for the Makeup:Mastered alumni was to create a beauty editorial of 4 – 6 images around the theme of: “A Feast for Gluttony” and create the looks using only edible ingredients/products.

They were asked to use what was already in their kits and kitchens in order to step outside of their comfort zone & experiment with makeup unconventionally.

The objective was not to buy more stuff, but use up what we already have and begin to think differently about the ingredients in our beauty products.

READ ABOUT nikoletta AND HER TEAMS APPROACH TO THE BRIEF, AS WELL AS THE CHALLENGES SHE FACED.

Our motivation behind the concept came from researching more in-depth about gluttony. Orange is the colour representation of gluttony in 7 deadly sins. Based on this we used orange to create our concept. Orange is quite a sweet colour, which leads our creative vision towards the sweets. Gluttony means habitual greed or excess in eating. We used an excessive amount of sweets as the main concept for this shoot, even using edible sweets as makeup products.

The challenge for Leroy and I was not to go overboard. As creatives, our minds travel to many places and we can both be very eccentric. We needed to make sure that our model and image looked gluttonous but still have young, fresh and beautiful vibe. As a team, we bounced thoughts off one another and we refined it to what you see now.
